THE AMEVA EMBROIDERY JOURNAL

What Does Custom Embroidery Cost in South Africa?

The useful price is the cost of your finished order, not just the number beside an embroidery sample. To compare quotes, separate the blank item, the embroidery and the delivery. Then check that each quote describes the same design, size, placement and quantity. Ameva quotes each job individually and has no minimum order quantity.

Separate the three parts of your order

The blank is the unembroidered item: a polo shirt, towel, napkin or other textile. At Ameva you supply suitable items yourself or buy them separately, for example through Takealot. Send a product link or photograph for a suitability check before purchasing. The embroidery price does not buy the blank item.

Keep transport separate too. Your budget needs to cover getting the items to Ameva and returning the completed work. Confirm the mailing arrangements and delivery quote before booking. A low embroidery price can still produce a higher overall order cost when several parcels are involved.

Ameva’s published embroidery prices

As published on 21 October 2026, Ameva lists R125 for one item, R460 for four items, R660 for six items and R95 per item for quantities of 30 or more. These are embroidery-only offers; blank items and delivery are separate. Quantity offers use identical wording, design and colours. Confirm that the offer applies to your specific design and items in the official quote.

For example, four qualifying identical pieces at R460 mean R115 per piece for embroidery. That is not the complete cost of four finished garments: add your blank items and agreed transport. Check the current website pricing and ask the team to price any variations.

Compare the same embroidery brief

A small name and a large filled logo are different jobs even when they go on the same shirt. Give the team the artwork, approximate width and height, placement and fabric details. If you want a chest logo and a second design on the sleeve, state both positions. Do not compare a quote for one position with a quote for two.

Ask what design preparation is included and whether changes to the approved brief would affect the quote. A picture of a design is a starting point for review; it is not a guarantee that every fine detail can be stitched at your chosen size.

Quantity is only part of the comparison

Ameva’s published quantity offers use identical wording, design and colours. Six items with six different names are not the same brief as six identical logos. List variations before requesting the quote, including changes in thread colour or placement. Check the applicable price rather than assuming that a quantity offer covers every type of personalisation.

There is no minimum order, so you can request a single item. For repeat orders, retain your order reference and approved design details. The team can then confirm what can be reused and what needs reviewing for a different item or fabric.

A practical budget worksheet

  • Blank items: quantity × your supplier’s price.
  • Inbound delivery: your supplier’s or courier’s charge.
  • Embroidery: the total on Ameva’s reviewed quote, including all agreed placements and variations.
  • Any separately quoted design work: include it only if it applies to your order.
  • Return delivery: the agreed charge for your parcel.

Add these amounts for the complete budget. Do not count a charge twice if it is already included in the quote. Keep your supplier receipt and Ameva quote separate so you can see what each payment covers.

Confirm the quote before paying

Review the quantity, exact wording, design, dimensions and delivery arrangement. Ask about any unclear charge before paying. Full payment is required before production. The production period is 3–4 business days after payment, items and artwork approval have all been received; delivery time is additional.

Send your details using our embroidery quote checklist. It helps the team price your actual job rather than an incomplete description.
